Azur Lane: Future Warp is a Fanfiction, Action, Adventure story for Azur Lane made by ROBLOXGamingDavid. This story follows USS Enterprise, Yorktown-class aircraft carrier, who was transported and ended up in an unfamiliar territory in a different time and universe after a major decisive battle near the Midway Atoll against the combined forces of Sakura Empire and the Sirens that went horribly wrong after a brutal intervention by mysterious forces.

Inspired by one of Wattpad's users who created the AL fanfiction story about two US Navy pilots at the Azur Lane universe, this story began development, shortly before it was announced at the same time, on May 31st, 2021. A day later, the story became open to all readers, and since its release, has become the most popular stories on his Wattpad profile, achieving 10,000+ reads in over 10 months; the fastest and the only achieving milestone done by him.

On April 12, 2024, the author announced that Future Warp is slated to be revamped; a project related to this announcement is in the works. Six days later, on April 18th, the story cover of the Retelling version is posted on both Pixiv and Deviantart accounts, while the 2021 version of Future Warp is now considered discontinued and won't be receiving any updates. The Retelling version made its debut in Wattpad on April 20, 2024, with the release of it's first five chapters, and in the fanfiction repository site; Archive Of our Own (AO3) on December 26th, bearing the same title as this original version.

Announcement[]

On May 31st, 2021, ROBLOXGamingDavid announced that his new story, titled Azur Lane - Future Warp, is coming out, meaning it has begun their work on his new story. This new story is inspired by one of its fanfic authors Musahi311, who created one of that user's stories named Azrael - Azur Lane Story (which it was first released somewhere in 2018). It states that it will start in the opposite unlike that story's two main protagonists: Rodrigo Senna, and Joaquin Diaz.

The next day, on June 1st, the first three parts (including the first two chapters) are released.

Synopsis[]

This is edited from the actual story description to remove his author notes to fit the synopsis. (Updated last November 15th, 2021)

In June 1942, when the Azur Lane's massive fleet is setting out in a decisive naval battle against the combined Sakura Empire and the Siren fleet; hellbent on trying to take the atoll of Midway, they are caught in the Mirror Sea cast by Akagi. But during a desperate fight for survival, an unknown mysterious figure suddenly caused things to go badly awry, and their dimension becomes extremely unstable...

Sometime later.. one of these shipgirls, named USS Enterprise (Yorktown-class CV-6)... ends up in a very different place... The world that she sees is very different to her own, a different universe that takes place in the time when World War II have long been ended, and both factions; Eagle Union and Sakura Empire (or in this real-world version; United States and Japan) are now close allies...

Question is... How well can she able to handle the modern, now-changed world, and can she find her way back home or would she be stuck here forever?

Trivia[]

  • This is his first fanfiction story about Azur Lane, a Chinese 2D shoot-em up game powered by Unity, first released in China in May 2017, before it was gradually released worldwide in 2018–19.
    • The second AL fanfiction to follow up is Azur Lane: Part Human, Part Siren, though that story is not connected to Future Warp despite itself taking place in the same universe,
  • This is his second new story to begin work in progress stage in the year 2021. The first in this year was Amnesiac, which began work on May 14th, and was published 4 days later. It later stopped development on October 13, 2022.
  • This story takes place partly in the Azur Lane universe as part of the beginning in Chapter, whereas New York City, and much of the United States (and later Planet Earth) became this story's main setting starting in the second chapter.
    • The Azur Lane Universe (1942) is made use again and is now its secondary main universe setting at the end of Chapter 10, giving way for the debut of its secondary main protagonist "Dave Charles Berenson".
  • This fanfiction story has received more reads and votes per part than any of his other works published prior to June 1, 2021 (the day AL: Future Warp was published).
  • On June 26, 2021, twenty-six days after this story was first published, this story has hit 1K reads, much faster than both Criminal Idol, and "Another" Group Chat can achieve (as said in the announcement that these previous works before Future Warp took a "few months or up to a year to get to that").
    • In April 2022, 10 months after its release, Future Warp surpassed 10K reads, making it the only story work on his profile to ever achieve.
  • On his YouTube channel community post on July 7th, he states that the three countries from the demographic stats: United States, Philippines, and Indonesia, have double-digit percentages of readers (at 33%, 21%, and 12.5% respectively). At the time, AL: Future Warp is at over ~1,500 reads, meaning these countries likely constitutes over 66.5% of its total readership.
  • On the early hours of February 25, 2022, during the non-working holiday meant to celebrate the Philippine's People Power Revolution's 36th anniversary, Azur Lane: Future Warp has hit 30 chapters (thus adding to the total of 31 story parts).
    • By October 14, 2022, it hit over 40 chapters.
